Susan T. Rodriguez designs at the intersection of architecture and the public realm to create buildings and spaces that distill the essence of cultures and communities. Her award-winning work is recognized internationally for its contribution to the vitality of cities and landscapes, and the civic, cultural, and educational institutions they serve.

Susan began an independent practice in 2017, combining more than 30 years of design leadership with a passionate belief in the power of architecture to effect change and improve the quality of life for all. In recognition of the breadth and impact of her work over the last three decades, Susan received the 2016 Women in Architecture Design Leader Award from Architectural Record.

Central to her work—both as a founding partner and design principal at Ennead Architects and at her new practice—is a commitment to design that addresses the pressing issues in contemporary society through an emphasis on the long-term sustainability and well-being of communities and institutions.

Susan has been a longtime board member of the Architectural League of New York and a founding board member of Art Works Project: Art + Design for Human Rights. She lectures frequently on her work and has taught numerous design studios at Cornell, Columbia, and City College.

Susan received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art and Planning, where she serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council and is a former trustee of the University. She received a Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University and is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. Susan lives and works in New York City, while spending as much time as possible at her off-grid cabin in Penobscot Bay.
